Christianity- How can you believe in a God that you can’t see?
When it comes to Christianity one of the most common questions that non-believers ask is how can you believe in God you can’t see?
To answer that question I would have to explain to them that being Christian is all about faith. For many, however, that is not a satisfactory answer.
I want that to come up with an explanation that they could easily understand So I came up with this reply instead :
I don’t need to see God in order to know that he’s real just like I don’t need to see radio waves or Wi-Fi I also don’t need to see energy or the wind. These are a few examples of some things that I cannot see but I can’t deny they exist.
even though you can’t see the wind you can feel it and you could see it move the leaves. so would you go as far as to question if it was even real? Of course not! It would be ridiculous to think that wind didn’t exist.
WI-FI is also something that we can’t see but we sure can’t live without it! we use it everyday and we never question its existence we just know that it’s something we depend on to help us get through our everyday life.
The same idea applies to being a believer of God. Even though we can’t see Him, we could feel Him and we could see him move within us. We could see how lives are changed and saved by the grace of God. We need Him in our lives to get through the day without falling apart. He is the fuel that keeps us going even when we are too tired and want to give up. He is the way the truth and the life and could give us more satisfaction than WI-FI if we just open our minds and hearts and give Him a chance.
My journey as a believer hasn’t been so long. I have been a believer of God for only a few years but I have seen how God turned my life around. He has made me find purpose in my life and gave me the courage and strength to follow my dreams. He has also healed me from a terrible depression that I was going through. I soon figured out that there’s nothing too hard for God if I have faith.
“O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! Jeremiah 32:17
For me, it took awhile to ease into being a believer. I had been a lost person for so long that when I finally made a choice to learn about God It felt awkward. I didn’t want anyone to find out because I didn’t want to justify my change of heart and I didn’t want to be judged or criticised.
In my early days as a Christian what I held onto was mostly blind faith because I really needed healing. I had never read the bible but I was willing to trust that God would heal me anyways. The problem was that I was still trying really hard to hold the reigns of my life instead of giving it to God. I was still trying to convince myself that I could do it on my own but the reality was that I had no idea what I was doing or where I was supposed to be going.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
I have learned and grown so much in the past few years and God has given me the patience and clarity to understand and learn His ways. My relationship with God grows stronger every day and I know He is with me every step of my Journey.
Faith is not believing that God can, It’s Knowing that he will.
